Here you can download two tests, one for machining centers and another for
turning centers (with answers) to help applicants confirm they have the
experience they claim to have. Note that these tests should only be given to
people who claim to have experience. If people don't claim to have experience,
it would be foolish (and very frustrating for the applicant) to administer
these tests.
To gauge results, simply use percentage of correct answers. If an applicant
scores over 90%, you can be relatively sure they have the experience they claim
to have. An applicant scoring under 50% percent probably doesn't have much
experience (or they haven't had to know too much about CNC programming, setup,
and operation in previous positions).
To get comfortable with these tests, we recommend giving them to your
current CNC people to see how well they do. This will help you gauge potential
applicant success compared to your current staff.
